Mental Health Counseling

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alaska, I have been working with Mental Health issues and treating stress-related concerns since 2006. Before that I worked in the field of self-empowerment and breakthrough technology that allowed people to go beyond where they  normally stop in order to reach the goals they set for themselves in life.

Working in a Mental Health Counseling Center (first in the Kansas City, as well as here in Kodiak, Alaska) has given me the experience to work with multiple needs. I have also worked at busy Hospital Emergency Rooms (where I was a Senior Behavioral Health Specialist in a 38-room ER) assessing crisis situations and am well-prepared to work with the needs of those seeking out assistance. My areas of specialty are working with those who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, parenting challenges and family issues.

My therapeutic focus utilizes therapies such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), Behavior Modification Skills (BMS), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). I also utilize Psychoeducation regarding Healthy Boundaries, the Neuroscience of the Brain, and Empowerment Skills that focus on Self-Care. I am client-centered, meaning that where the client wants to go and what the client wants to focus on is what we will be doing.
