Deborah Ruth Davis LPC, ATR-BC
Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a Board-Certified and Registered Art Therapist.
Doing counseling and art therapy are my passions. In 2013, I went in to private practice as a therapist, creating an LLC. The company name is Creativity Matters: Art and Therapy, LLC (on Facebook at ).
Although I grew up in Kansas, Alaska has become home. After going to Kansas State University for my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and Leadership Studies, as well as getting two master's degrees (one in Art Therapy and the other in Mental Health Counseling at Emporia State University), I got my clinical experience through working at two different Community Mental Health Centers, two separate Emergency Rooms (one at a prominent, and rather busy, hospital 38-room ER in the Kansas City area), teaching college classes at two different colleges as well as two different universities, and I am now fulfilling a life-long dream of being in private practice.
In addition to being a therapist, I have also worked at Kodiak College - UAA, Emporia State University, and Neosho County Community College as a Professor Adjunct. A few of the classes I have taught are "Interpersonal Communication", "Introduction to Art Therapy", "Science Writing", and "General Psychology". I enjoy teaching about as much as I love learning. Sparking new thoughts in another person's mind, to "think outside the box", and inspire positive action is part of what moves me to do what I am doing today.
