ART THERAPY BLOGS & ORGANIZATIONS
There are several Art Therapy Blogs to check out and enjoy. Many therapists have shared their experiences and thoughts on their philosphies and approaches.
More and more organizations are popping up around the world that share in the passion of promoting and exploring applications of art therapy.
DIFFERENT THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS
Doing mental health counseling 1:1 is the most common form of therapy offered. This happens in a safe and confidential environment, where the surroundings are quiet and relaxed. It is taken at the pace of the client. By appointment only.
Group Sessions are regularly made available through Creativity Matters. These groups usually consist of 6 to 8 people at a time, meeting once a week for 3 hours. The focus is on Self-Empowerment and Connecting to Self and Others in respectful and honoring ways.
Children and Family Therapy
Half of the clients I see are children and families. My approach is unique: I spend half of my time with the child and the other half with the primary caregivers. This makes sure that the skills I'm working on with the child are also utilized at home.
When doing couples counseling, the relationship goes from struggling, often ready to end, to having the couple turn things around and end up happier than they've ever been. This is often the outcome. Utilizing very specific skills allows for this to occur.
